EAST GREENBUSH, N.Y. — Rob Yetman has partnered with Steve Buckwalter to compete in the Lucas Oil Chili Bowl Midget Nationals on Jan. 13-18 in Tulsa, Okla.

Buckwalter, a well-known Northeast open-wheel racer, will provide Yetman with an Eagle chassis midget powered by Ford engine for the Chili Bowl.

Yetman, best known for his prowess as a dirt pro stock driver, has 138 wins and 10 track championships, as well as being the only driver to have won five consecutive Super DIRT Week events in the pro stock division.

Yetman explained that he’s wanted to compete in the Chili Bowl since a trip to see the event 10 years ago.

“Ever since I’ve wanted to see if I could do this,” said Yetman.  “This deal came about real fast and I want to thank Waterford Beverage, L. Browe Asphalt Services and The Bottle & Can Co.for stepping up to help make this possible.

“My goal is to try and qualify. I want to have some fun with this. To have the chance to race against someone in qualifying like Kyle Larsen or Christopher Bell would be awesome.”

To prepare for the event Yetman is spending time on a simulator program for the Chili Bowl to acquaint himself with the track.  The 51-year-old driver is looking forward to crossing an item off his bucket list.

“I can’t thank Steve enough for making my dream a reality,” said Yetman.  “I’m looking forward to this opportunity with great anticipation.”

Busy Schedule Set For COMP Cams Super Dirt Series

Busy Schedule Set For COMP Cams Super Dirt Series

CONWAY, Ark. – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series presented by Lucas Oil has released a schedule that features more than 30 dates across 12 tracks in five states.

“Putting the schedule together for 2020 was more challenging than I ever expected. Not only did all of our tracks from this season want dates for the upcoming year, but we had some new ones as well,” CCSDS CEO Chris Sullivan said. “We’ve got a few dates left to finalize but should have that done in the next two weeks. Right now, we are looking at 34 races. All but one race weekend has at least two events, and I’ve done my best to keep them as close travel wise as possible.”

The season will mark the 14th for the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series and will kick off with a new event. On March 6-7 the tour sanctions the inaugural Ronnie Adams Memorial at Boothill Speedway in Greenwood, La. Details are currently being finalized for the weekend, but the possibility of a five-figure winner’s payday looks likely.

New to the schedule for the upcoming campaign is a stop at Missouri’s Poplar Bluff Motorsports Park on April 17. The tour last visited the three-eighths-mile oval during its inaugural season in 2007.

After being nixed by rain in 2019, the 2020 edition of the Bad Boy 98 is scheduled for May 8-9 at Batesville (Ark.) Motor Speedway. The format and weekend payout are currently being finalized.

Missouri’s Legit Speedway Park returns to the schedule with a pair of dates. Notably, the facility will host the annual Larry Phillips Memorial for the first time ever. The CCSDS-sanctioned affair will be held on Aug. 1 and posts a $5,075 winner’s check.

In addition to co-sanctioning the 28th annual COMP Cams Topless 100 with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series at Arkansas’ Batesville Motor Speedway on Aug. 20-22, the CCSDS will also co-sanction the annual Clash at the Mag at Johnny Stokes’ Magnolia Motor Speedway for the first time in series history on June 18-20.

New for 2020, the 14th annual Gumbo Nationals at Mississippi’s Greenville Speedway will be sanctioned for the first time by the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series on Oct. 2-3. Weekend payouts are expected to include $4,000-to-win on Friday night and $8,000-to-win on Saturday night.

The 2020 season thunders to a close on Saturday, Nov. 7 at Mississippi’s Jackson Motor Speedway with the $6,000-to-win, All American 60.

Strutmasters Backing Foley Lewis Racing

Strutmasters Backing Foley Lewis Racing

MOORESVILLE, N.C.  – Strutmasters.com, a suspension manufacturer specializing in air-to-non-air suspension conversion kits, has signed on as a major associate sponsor for Doug Foley’s return to NHRA Top Fuel racing.

The two North Carolina-based businesses will work together as Foley competes at eight races next season.

“It feels good to have companies like Strutmasters.com support a team that literally hasn’t competed yet,” said Foley, who last raced in NHRA Top Fuel in 2011. “There’s a lot of teams they could go to, and for Chip to have the confidence in us, it means a lot. I think a lot of it had to do with our past competition, and I think he felt confident that in a little bit of time we will be competitive.”

Foley and partner Tim Lewis won several IHRA national events together in the mid-to-late 2000s. The 2004 IHRA Pro Rookie of the Year also ran part-time campaigns in NHRA competition during that time, reaching several semifinals. Foley and Lewis returned to racing in 2018, earning two No. 1 qualifier awards and a runner-up finish in NHRA Top Alcohol Dragster regional competition.

Founded in 1999 by Chip Lofton, Strutmasters.com manufactures and sells suspension parts and air-to-non-air suspension conversion kits for vehicles ranging from street cars and hot rods to trucks and motorcycles. The company offers affordable solutions to fix costly repair projects.

“This is a business that does very well for themselves,” Foley said. “A good portion of their sales are created online, so we’ll have to be creative in how we draw attention to their website and send fans to Strutmasters.com. Myself and Guy [Pierce, business development adviser] make a serious effort to put some value on the car, but also put value on what we can bring to the table Monday through Thursday.”

Foley looks forward to the opportunity to work with Lofton, who has become a prominent figure in the NHRA pro pits in recent years, as he supports multiple teams in a variety of classes.

“I’ve gotten the opportunity on two occasions to spend some time with Chip,” Foley said. “You really couldn’t find a more down-to-earth guy, especially for someone who’s so successful. I think those are qualities that we have also, which excites me about growing the relationship in the future.”

“The hope is this is the beginning of several announcements over the winter,” Foley continued, “but we’re excited that somebody had the faith in us to get the ball rolling. We’ll do everything we can to represent Chip and Strutmasters.com well.”
