Arsenal supporters have lashed out at their Manchester United counterparts after Nicolas Pepe grabbed the opening goal in the clash between the two sides on New Year’s Day. The Gunners were handed the lead through their £72million forward before the 10 minute mark, with fans quick to post on Twitter in response.
United fans had laughed at the form of Pepe earlier in the season when James was impressing after his summer move from Swansea.
The 22-year-old Welshman cost just £15m and managed three goals in the opening four Premier League fixtures, with Pepe taking 18 matches to score the same amount of goals.
But Arsenal fans got their revenge when their Ivorian attacker opened the scoring against United.
One fan wrote: “HEARD UNITED FANS SAY JAMES IS BETTER.”
Another added: “Remember when they were comparing Dan James to Pepe.”

Arsenal vs Man Utd predicted by experts [MATCH]
Charlie Nicholas gives bold Arsenal prediction [NEWS]
Ahead of the match Mikel Arteta was urged to start Pepe by club hero Charlie Nicholas, who told the Spaniard to show some faith in the Ivory Coast forward.
He told Sky Sports : "Man Utd are getting good results, while the counter-attack is so dangerous at the Emirates.
"I am going to stick with Arsenal , as they can get at the full-backs and defence.
"It [the football under Arteta] seems more pleasant to watch but the table looks awful for Arsenal.
“They need a win and it is not about closing the gap to the top four as that is fantasy for them this year.
"Mikel Arteta started with a draw and a harsh defeat so it is time for them to get a win.
“Man Utd will be very dangerous on the counter-attack, but Reiss Nelson has been decent, and Arteta could give Nicolas Pepe a start.
"He may just be ready to come and do something."
