Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea have been handed a boost in the pursuit to sign Jadon Sancho after his situation at Borussia Dortmund turned sour. The youngster may still be a key player for the German outfit but recent punishments are said to have left him uncomfortable.

Sancho may have became only the fourth teenager to score 20 Bundesliga goals with his brace against strugglers Fortuna Dusseldorf on Saturday, but Manchester City will not be pursuing his possible return to the Etihad.

The 19-year-old left Manchester in 2017 and was handed the No 7 shirt at Dortmund after failing to get any first-team opportunities in England.

The winger has gone on to become a regular in Gareth Southgate’s England side after making his name as one of the best creative talents in Europe with consistent goals and assists.

However, the Sunday Mirror have now reported that Sancho is not on the list of transfer targets at City despite their recent struggles in the Premier League leaving them 14 points adrift of leaders Liverpool.

The news could come as a shock to fans who have seen Leroy Sane rejected any possible talk over a new contract with Bayern Munich keen to secure his services.

The report goes on to suggest that Sancho’s failure to report for training in Manchester after being snubbed for a place in their pre-season tour of the United States back in 2017 will play a part in City's refusal to sanction his return.

City boss Pep Guardiola said of Sancho earlier this year: “He didn't want to take this challenge, this opportunity to discover if he was able to.

“He decided to go there. So it's perfect. It's going well and congratulations on what he is doing.

“He is doing an incredible performance. He did incredibly well this season. What would have happened this season (here)? I don’t know.

“With the players, it depends on them and what they do on the pitch.”

The player himself has also spoken about his feelings toward the Spaniard, which suggested a return could be on the cards.

He told SoccerBible: "When I left City, there was a lot of people that doubted me – they were like ‘oh you shouldn’t have left Pep Guardiola’ – but I just thought that it was the best thing for me.

"I still have love for Pep, I still love everyone at the club, because they took me from Watford and helped me develop into who I am today, and obviously going to Dortmund.

"They helped with a bigger step for me – making my debut.

“And now I’ve made my debut I’ve expressed myself and now I’m in the position where I am today.

"I’m just so grateful to everyone who’s been a part of my journey so far. Watford as well, started off life at Watford, so it’s been really good."

Newcastle boss Bruce: It's still early; I want to prove people wrong

Newcastle United boss Steve Bruce is delighted with his the commitment his players are showing this season.

Bruce came in for fierce criticism following a 5-0 defeat at Leicester in October but his side have responded by taking 14 points from eight games.

"I've been given a wonderful opportunity and I hope I can prove a few people wrong, but there is still a long way to go," he said ahead of today's visit of Southampton.

"We've still got to be a little bit more fluid at the top end of the pitch, but we'll keep working on that.

"The most important thing for me is trying to create a spirit. Since I've walked through the door, yes, we've had two or three poor performances but, all-in-all, I couldn't have asked for much more from them.

"They are prepared to run a million miles and cover the distances like they've covered. So they've bought into what we've tried to do."

Surly Man Utd star left Roy Keane unimpressed during squad address

Manchester United legend Roy Keane was left upset with one senior player after returning to the club last week to speak with the squad.

The Mirror says the outspoken Irishman was left unimpressed with a United star, who has not been named, for his approach to the talk.

It is believed that the unnamed player was sat slouched in his chair and bore a disinterested expression throughout Keane's address.

The 48-year-old has not been cute in his views on his former club, often seen exasperated at their performances during his punditry duties on Sky Sports.

Keane was, however, left unimpressed with the attitude of one unnamed star during the talk

Keane is said to have spoken to the players about setting and maintaining high standards in training and on matchdays, having a strong mentality among the group and making the sacrifices required to be champions.

And the talk appears to have done the team good. United have earned two big wins in their last two Premier League games, beating Jose Mourinho's Spurs at Old Trafford in midweek before seeing off league champions and arch rivals Manchester City on Saturday.
