Mauricio Pochettino wants a return to football immediately.

The Argentine was sacked by Tottenham over a fortnight ago after five-and-a-half years at the club.

Arsenal are without a manager and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is under pressure at Manchester United, and Pochettino says he has returned to his homeland in order to decide his next move.

Asked about his future plans by Fox Sports, Pochettino said: "There are a lot of clubs and attractive projects for me to take on.

"But, for the time being, the most important thing is for me to clear my head after five-and-a-half incredible seasons with Tottenham.

"My aim is to seek the ability to rebuild myself and get my self-motivation back.

"It is my intention to return to manage in Europe. It is hard for me to imagine a project in Argentina. However for the sake of my family, I would not refuse to work over here.

"But now I need to be calm for a few days and see what happens. I haven't had a lot of time to digest what has happened with me.

"My first decision was to come back to Argentina, return to my home and see family and friends. But I expect to return to Europe to make decisions on my future.

"My best decision was to come to Argentina to switch off for 10 days.

"At my age I don't need a lot of time to recover. I am open to listen to projects put before me."

Liverpool boss Klopp lauds Adrian as man-of-the-match against Brighton

Liverpool boss Klopp lauds Adrian as man-of-the-match against Brighton

Jurgen Klopp says Adrian saved Liverpool in their win over Brighton on Saturday.

The Spaniard entered the game when Alisson was sent off and was forced into a number of magnificent saves to keep the scores at 2-1.

"My man of the match is Adrian, coming on in a game like this and having that knock of the free kick," Klopp said.

"I want to read something [in the press] about that situation. It is incredible.

"An ice-cold keeper getting his gloves ready and then… [whistle]. That is our life. Then being in the game to make two saves.

"He saved our lives and I am happy for him he can play the derby."

Savage advises Aston Villa star Grealish to join Man City, Spurs or Chelsea

Savage advises Aston Villa star Grealish to join Man City, Spurs or Chelsea

Robbie Savage has told Jack Grealish to join either Manchester City, Tottenham or Chelsea.

The Aston Villa midfielder was in sensational form against Manchester United, scoring the opening goal in the 2-2 draw.

And Savage, who played for Villa rivals Birmingham City, says Grealish is better off leaving the Midlands club.

"Aston Villa what are they going to achieve? Staying in the Premier League," Savage said on BBC Five Live.

"If they achieve that it is going to be a great season for them, they are not winning a cup.

"If Manchester City, Spurs or Chelsea come with a massive offer for Jack Grealish, let's say £80m, I think he'll go. He's far better than Aston Villa."

Hodgson states Crystal Palace stance on Zaha leaving in January

Hodgson states Crystal Palace stance on Zaha leaving in January

Roy Hodgson says Wilfried Zaha must be prepared to stay at Crystal Palace, despite speculation linking him away from the club.

Hodgson also confirmed Palace rejected an offer for Zaha in the summer, with Arsenal and Napoli reportedly interested in his services.

"In the summer, the club received at least one bid they didn't feel was the right one to accept and he - unfortunately, if he chooses to see it that way - had to respect the three or four-year contract he signed with the club," said Hodgson.

"I don't read quite that much into it as a manager as you do sitting on the other side of the table.

"There is no drama and those players are always going to be coveted by other teams.

"But when you sign a long-term contract as a player with the club, you have to accept that the chances are that the club won't accept bids and the club will say to you, 'no, you signed a three-year contract and we expect you to play for the club for three years'.

"I don't see quite where the massive drama is in that, personally."

He added: "We are pleased to have him with us still and I am very much counting on us having him still.

"But you never know, that is all I would say. I don't go out and make bold statements to say we will never get another bid for Wilf Zaha, which the club will have to take into consideration.

"When you are a club like us, with a player like him, there will also be the risk that bids and other attempts to prise him away will happen to you.

"Fortunately, we have been able to bat those requests away. We have to take each situation as it comes and I hope there won't be any bids for him but if there is one, it will be for the club to take into consideration what the right thing is to do."
