LONDON: New Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has paid tribute to his predecessor Mauricio Pochettino and backed the Argentine to find happiness again at a different club.

Speaking in his first news conference ahead of Saturday's Premier League clash against West Ham United, Mourinho said the club's door will always be open for Pochettino, who guided Spurs to the Champions League final last season.

MUMBAI: Describing Jose Mourinho as a top manager, former Manchester City defender Micah Richards on Thursday said that it would be difficult for him initially and it is good to have him back in the Premier League .

"It's nice to have him (Mourinho) back, because he's a character, isn't he? When he was the manager at Chelsea, he was a manager that any player would have loved to have played under," Richards told reporters.

Barcelona target £170m duo

Barcelona have their sights on two strikers to replace Luis Suarez.

Suarez has scored 185 goals in 260 appearances for Barcelona since joining from Liverpool in July 2014 for a reported £62million.

But the 32-year-old’s days at the Nou Camp are numbered and the Catalan giants have identified two possible candidates to replace him.

Goal claim Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez and RB Salzburg’s Erling Haaland are on their radar, with both likely to cost in the region of £85m.

Top Loader targeted…

Manchester United are set to miss out on a key transfer target.

The Red Devils are interested in signing Reading youngster Danny Loader.

The 19-year-old striker was a target for United during the summer, but the 13-time Premier League champions opted against making a bid.

Now, they could lose out on him again, with Wolves reportedly close to making a move in January.

The Schalke centre-forward, 19, has managed four goals in 24 appearances for the Bundesliga club and is considered a bright talent for the future.

Asked about his ambitions for the future and who he would like to join, Kutucu told Fanatik: "The Premier League is a beautiful and special league and one day I want to play there.

"Of course, clubs with history like Barcelona, Real Madrid, Juventus or Manchester United are every footballer's dream."

Erling Haaland deal

The Manchester United board are prepared to sanction a £75million deal for RB Salzburg star Erling Haaland, according to the Daily Mail.

But that’s £10m short of the Austrian champions’ valuation of their coveted Norwegian international, who want £85million.

There’s no shortage of takers for the 19-year-old teenager, who has chalked up an incredible 26 goals in 18 appearances this term - including five hat-tricks in four competitions.

Barcelona, Real Madrid and Bayern Munich are all linked with his signature - and could beat United if they’re prepared to pay the full asking price.

Dejan Kulusevski valuation

Atalanta have named their price for Dejan Kulusevski.

Kulusevski, who is currently on loan at Parma, is being tracked by a number of European clubs including Arsenal and Manchester United.

Calciomercato claim Antonio Conte’s Inter Milan are also showing interest - but could be put off by Atalanta’s valuation.

It’s claimed the Serie A side will accept £26million for the 19-year-old winger.

Bruno Fernandes to Spurs

Jose Mourinho could seek revenge on Manchester United, by finally bringing the Bruno Fernandes transfer saga to an end.

The Portuguese star was the talk of the summer window, but failed to earn a move away from Sporting where he has continued to flourish.

United appeared to be frontrunners for a deal until it became apparent that noise of their supposed interest was being driven from Portugal.

Given that Tottenham sent delegates to Lisbon to try and thrash out a deal earlier this summer, there is a good chance Jose Mourinho may reignite the club’s interest.

Sacking Mauricio Pochettino could come back to haunt Tottenham, according to former Spurs midfielder Jermaine Jenas.

The Argentine’s five-and-a-half year spell at the club came to an end earlier this week, with Daniel Levy opting to twist and appoint Jose Mourinho.

Now one of the finest managers in world football is available after plenty of interest in the past few years and Jenas believes Pochettino will have no problem whatsoever finding a new job.

He wrote in his column for Express Sport: “Poch will have six month or a year out. He will get a top job.

Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juve, Bayern Munich. It will be a monster job.

“And he will probably come back and break Spurs' hearts.”

Speaking in his first press conference as Tottenham boss, Mourinho paid tribute to Pochettino and what he’s left behind at the club for the Portuguese to inherit.

“I’ve been smiling for two days,” The Special One said.

“First of all I do it with a bit of sadness, I have to speak about Mauricio.

“I have to congratulate him on the incredible job he did. I share with you what we shared inside.

“This club will always be his home, this training ground his training ground. He is always welcome here.”

Like Jenas, Mourinho also claimed Pochettino will not have to sweat over landing another job, one should fall on his lap.

“Tomorrow is another day,” Mourinho added.

“He will find happiness soon. He will give everything like he did at this club.

“He will leave with sadness with the feeling that he did great work. It is what everyone at the club felt.”

Mourinho takes charge of his first game as Tottenham boss on Saturday lunchtime at West Ham.
