ARSENAL AND CITY EYE FOXES DEFENDER
Arsenal are apparently hoping that Caglar Soyuncu fancies trading down in January…

The Leicester defender has been a revelation since slipping seamlessly into Brendan Rodgers’ back four following the sale of Harry Maguire to Manchester United. So much so that Manchester City have already been credited with an interest in the Turkey centre-back. Indeed, Sky Sports says that City would be happy with either Soyuncu or his centre-back partner Jonny Evans.

But ESPN has repeated a claim in Turkey from Star which suggests Arsenal are eyeing a January move for Soyuncu. The Gunners were close to signing the 23-year-old from Freiburg a couple of years ago but the Foxes pounced first. The story goes that Arsenal will watch Soyuncu in action for Turkey against  Andorra on Sunday. What they might observe there that they didn’t see for themselves at the King Power Stadium is unclear…

GUNNERS LOANEE WON’T GO BACK TO REAL
Arsenal might have an easier time convincing Dani Ceballos to sign for them since he has already played 17 games for the Gunners. Actually…

The one thing the Spain midfielder is apparently clear on is that he won’t return to Real Madrid while Zinedine Zidane remains the gaffer. Initially, Ceballas didn’t want an option to buy included in his loan move last summer but with Zidane looking more likely to still be around next summer, AS says the 23-year-old would prefer to stay away, while El Desmarque claims that Florentino Perez has been asked to discuss a permanent deal in January.

MAN UTD STILL KEEN ON VIOLA STAR
Man Utd sorted their centre-back problems last summer but reports in Italy suggest they haven’t finished remodelling their defence.

La Republicca reckons United are still interested in Fiorentina stopper Nikola Milenkovic who has rumoured to have been a target since Jose Mourinho’s reign.

If the Red Devils are serious. Ed Woodward will have to get his head around paying at least £35million. That was seemingly the price 18 months ago and it certainly hasn’t come down since then.

Of course, since the day ends in a ‘Y’, United are also linked with Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland. In future, perhaps it’ll save time for us all if we just let you know when they’re not.

AND THE REST
Roma could give Everton their money back for Moise Kean… Juventus are keen on Ruben Neves… Real Madrid are tracking Callum Hudson-Odoi… Leroy Sane’s Man City team-mates are increasingly convinced the crocked winger will join Bayern Munich.

England captain Harry Kane has spoken of a private conversation he had with Joe Gomez after the Liverpool defender was involved in a physical altercation with Raheem Sterling earlier this week.

Sterling was axed from the England squad by manager Gareth Southgate for their game with Montenegro, because of his involvement in the incident.

The Manchester City forward clashed with Gomez during Liverpool’s win over Pep Guardiola’s side last Sunday, and tensions boiled over again the next day at St George’s Park when they met for England duty.

Kane wasn’t present when the confrontation occurred, but it was Sterling who initiated it, and so Southgate sought advice from England’s senior players, including Kane, on how to punish the former Liverpool man.

Kane said: “I was not in the room when it happened. So after it happened I asked a few of the players about what went on.

“I then spoke to Joe privately about how he was feeling. Emotions had run high just after it happened so I spoke to Raz and then me and a few of the senior players spoke about what we should do.

“Joe and Raz then got together and had a chat. After that, I spoke to Joe again to see how he was feeling. He was feeling better after his chat with Raz.

“The gaffer spoke to me and a few of the senior players and we made the decision we wanted to make and we did it as a group.

“Raz missed the game, apologised, and him and Joe were fine after that.

“We had a private meeting and I won’t discuss what we said but it is about understanding what went on and why, speaking to both players and trying to control it.”

Kane admitted that he’d never had to deal with a situation like Sterling and Gomez’s before.

He also noted how Gomez’s team-mate and Sterling’s ex-club colleague Jordan Henderson was part of the conversations with Southgate which eventually saw the 24-year-old dropped from the team.

Kane added: “It was a different week to what I have been used to. In life, in football, as one of the leaders, stuff happens and you have to adapt and control the situation and me, the gaffer and Hendo - who was involved even though he was not there - handled it as well as we could have, I think.

“Raz has owned up to everything. He put out a tweet and apologised to Joe and has taken not playing on the chin.

“Raz is a great professional and we want to move on and try and win our last game.”

There was shock and confusion among England players, however, when Gomez was booed after coming on during the Three Lions thrashing of Montenegro.

Sterling, who condemned the actions of England fans after the game on Twitter, could be seen clapping his club rival onto the pitch.

Kane again spoke to Gomez after the booing occurred and stated that the former Charlton defender seemed fine about the situation.

“I find it really confusing why he was booed. I don’t think any player should be booed. I know how important club football but at international level, we are all England fans and the bottom line is that Joe is a great guy - one of the nicest guys I have ever met,” Kane said.

“I spoke to him and he seemed fine. It was confusing but we cannot control the fans or what they do but Joe has a top mentality and is fighting to play on Sunday.”

Real Madrid want Hudson-Odoi

Callum Hudson-Odoi recently signed a new Chelsea contract, but that hasn’t put off Real Madrid according to reports in Spain.

El Desmarque claim that Zinedine Zidane is eyeing the Blues winger.

Bayern Munich have had four bids rejected for Hudson-Odoi and now look to have turned their attentions elsewhere.

The England international is still finding his feet following a hefty lay off with an Achilles problem.

Man Utd £200m raid

Manchester United are plotting a £200million double raid for Jadon Sancho and Erling Haaland, according to The Mirror.

Sancho is reportedly ready to leave Borussia Dortmund after being made an example of in recent weeks by Lucien Favre.

Meanwhile United have sent scouts to keep tabs on Haaland, who is now deemed their top striker target.

They are now the favourites to land the 19-year-old sensation.

Haaland twist

The Mirror also claim that United would be willing to loan Haaland back to Salzburg for the remainder of the season.

It comes as a huge surprise given that they will need to fork out around £85million to secure the deal.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer worked with the star at Molde and is currently short of forward options, therefore a centre-forward is top of his agenda when the transfer window reopens.

But the Norwegian is prepared to go to extra lengths to ensure Haaland ends up in a United shirt.

Tottenham anger of Coutinho

According to The Sun, one of Mauricio Pochettino’s biggest grievances with the board is their failure to pursue a deal for Philippe Coutinho.

It was something he personally requested in the closing stages of the summer transfer window.

Barcelona were looking for a club to take Coutinho on loan, a player Pochettino worked with during his time at Espanyol.

Pochettino did however land Giovani Lo Celso, who they are likely to sign permanently at the end of the season, as Coutinho moved to Bayern Munich.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic

AC Milan are the latest Italian club to express an interest in signing Zlatan Ibrahimovic, after leaving LA Galaxy.

The big Swede spent two seasons at the club between 2010 and 2012, hammering in 42 Serie A goals in 61 matches.

Ibrahimovic has expressed his desire to return to Serie A, where he has spent most of his career.

He wants to join a club who will fight for the Scudetto though, making the one exception of Bologna, with Ibra stating he’d be willing to play for boss Sinisa Mihajlovic, who is battling leukaemia.

Bale riles Real Madrid

Gareth Bale has admitted that he gets more joy playing for Wales than he does Real Madrid.

The forward nearly joined Chinese Super League club Jiangsu Suning in the summer transfer window, as he time in Madrid dwindles to a close.

"I definitely have more excitement playing for Wales," Bale said.

”I’ve been with most of the older players since we were in the U17s. It's like playing with your mates down the park on a Sunday. It's normal.

"With Wales, I'm speaking my own language and feel more comfortable. But it doesn't change what I do on the pitch. I always give 100 per cent on the pitch wherever I am, that's what I always strive to do."

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka happy back with winning Swiss team

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka happy back with winning Swiss team

Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka is happy to be back with Switzerland this week.

Having been axed and stripped of the captaincy at Arsenal, Xhaka has found fresh support with his national team.

"The matter is ticked off for me," said Xhaka. "I'm ready."

Nati coach Vladimir Petkovic is delighted with what he's seen from Xhaka in training, having been in regular contact with the midfielder since his Gunners blow up.

He added: "When Granit takes a step backwards, he takes two steps forward."

Xhaka remains Switzerland captain and led them to a 1-0 win over Georgia in last night's Euros qualifier.
