Napoli president Aurelio de Laurentiis was ready to SACK Carlo Ancelotti this week, it has been revealed.

The movie mogul wanted to dump Ancelotti over the ritiro revolt - but was talked out of it by his lawyers.

That's according to the Gazzetta dello Sport, which report the president was furious over the situation to such an extent that he considered getting rid of Ancelotti only hours after the Champions League draw against RB Salzburg.

De Laurentiis believes Ancelotti has lost the dressing room - and can't see how the coach can win back the respect of his players.

He was eventually talked down by his lawyers, who asked the patron to reflect for a time before making any decisions.

Fiorentina coach Montella: I wanted to sign Nainggolan

Fiorentina coach Vincenzo Montella admits he was keen on signing Radja Nainggolan over the summer.

The midfielder left Roma for Cagliari - but not before speaking with the Viola.

Montella said, "I've been following him for some time. There was the possibility [of a move] and he was tempted, but he decided to go with his heart and went back to Cagliarl."

He also stated, "They've been a bit of a revelation in the league. Their midfield is their strongest point and they don't have to be envious of the other sides in Serie A. It will be a good game because they're in a healthy state and their pitch is a little smaller than others, and this will help them. It will be a huge test for us."

Nicolo Barella: Inter Milan winner best goal of career

Nicolo Barella: Inter Milan winner best goal of career

Nicolo Barella says his winner for Inter Milan is the best of his career.

Valerio Verre's penalty had put Hellas Verona ahead on Saturday, but Matias Vecino and Barella's wonder goal saw Inter win 2-1.

“It was a pretty difficult first half, as Verona play good football, have intensity and caused us problems," the midfielder told Sky Sport Italia.

“After the break, our intensity emerged over time and we deserved the victory. We are all giving our best and are highly-motivated, so that's the most important thing.

“It has been a tough time for all of us with so many games in a row, but that's why we trained so hard over the summer, to be ready for this.

“I think it was the best goal of my career!"

Genoa coach Thiago Motta delighted with Napoli point

Genoa coach Thiago Motta delighted with Napoli point

Genoa coach Thiago Motta was pleased with their 0-0 draw against Napoloi.

Motta insists they dominated the stalemate.

"I don't know if it was our best game so far, but I am very happy with the team spirit shown tonight. I try to talk to the players and let them know this is the path forward," Motta told DAZN.

“We controlled the game and at times tried to slow the tempo, at others wanted to raise it and cause a great opponent problems. At the end of the day I'm happy, because we could've scored right up to the end.

“In our minds, the objective is always to win, but against a side like Napoli, it's a good result. I am convinced that if we continue with this approach, the victories will come."
