Graeme Souness is worried about the long-term future of Liverpool stars Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane
That is according to Liverpool legend and Sky Sports pundit Graeme Souness.
German Jurgen Klopp is yet to win any silverware since arriving at Anfield in late 2015.
Liverpool have reached three finals in that time in three separate competitions but always come off second best.
Souness says there is a good base in the Liverpool squad for years to come, especially in defence.
The bigger question for me is can they hold onto Salah and Mane? That’s where I think the problem will come down the line
But he is concerned over the long-term future of star forwards Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Salah and Mane are Liverpool’s two leading scorers this season and Souness says keeping them both may prove to be a problem down the line.
“He’s really passionate, he wears his heart on his sleeve, and the Liverpool supporters love that,” Souness said of Klopp.
“I think it’s only a matter of time, whether it’s this year [or not], he will win trophies.
“This is a team that will win trophies.
“I think it’s a team that, by and large, the majority of them are going to stay together for a good few years.
“If you factor [Joe] Gomez into that back five with the goalkeeper, they could play together for a decade if none of them get a serious injury.
“That’s the foundation of your team.
“I still think [Klopp] won’t be terribly happy with the lack of creativity in midfield.
“I think he needs more of that, but I think he will resolve that
