Leisnig is an unusually attractive town, well off the tourist route, 50km south of Leipzig. I came here because I am preparing materials on the German resistance to the National Socialist regime and wanted to film the birthplace of Friedrich Olbricht. As it turned out, the film I made of Olbricht's home, using the Filmic Pro software was corrupted so I will have to return but nonetheless I don't regard the time as wasted as it was a very nice place to visit.
The layout of the town is more Italian than German being located at the top of a hill overlooking the Mulde river. There is a huge market square - not at all a German characteristic. There is also a castle which dominates the highest point with a museum that has been there since 1890.
For those seeking something well off the beaten track, this is worth visiting!
