Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has hit back at Gary Neville's claims that his anger with the fixture scheduling is just him trying to get a psychological advantage. Klopp has been left furious with the timing of some of his team's matches, especially 12.30pm kick-offs on a Saturday following a midweek Champions League game.

Liverpool have suffered a string of serious injury problems this term, with Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez set to miss the majority of the campaign with knee respective knee injuries.

Speaking on Sky Sports' Monday Night Football earlier this week, Neville claimed Klopp "got done" in his tetchy interview with BT Sport following the 1-1 draw at Brighton last Saturday.

Neville said Klopp's complaints were an attempt to get an advantage and were a tactic used by his former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

The pundit said: "The biggest risk to Klopp winning the league again this season is another big injury or two.

"So, he wants to try and gain that advantage to put some psychological thing into people's minds. Sir Alex Ferguson did it for 15 or 16 years.

"Klopp has been the best manager in interviews for the last few years, he's been the best manager on the pitch, he's connected with the fans better than anybody else, his style of football is fantastic, but on Saturday he got done in an interview, and that's very rare.

"He didn't get his story right, he hasn't got his evidence to back him up either in games played or in the Saturday kick-off slots. He just lost this particular one having been brilliant in all his other interviews that he's done."

However, speaking at his press conference ahead of Sunday's match at home to Wolves, Klopp has hit back at Neville and insists he wants the best for all players, not just Liverpool's.

"Gary Neville said something but it is not about LFC," Klopp said.

"Maybe it is how he would deal with it but he should not think I am like him.

"I speak about all players and not only Liverpool players."

Klopp says he will continue to fight to be allowed to make five substitutions in the Premier League.

"Nobody thought [five subs] would go through," the German added.

"The facts were if we voted [last month] it would have gone through but it hasn't happened since is a sign the shareholders see it different to their managers.

"Not a good sign. It shows they ignore player welfare.

"We will not stop fighting for it as it's the right thing to do.

"I got numbers from Scotland, they had 65 per cent subs for load management, 30 per cent for tactical and five per cent for injuries."
