The residents of Emmerdale have been going about their daily business, not realising a murderer and rapists has been stalking the lanes in the dead of night. This evening, during an hour-long instalment of the popular ITV soap, Pierce Harris (played by Jonathan Wrather) was finally arrested.
For days, Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) has been held hostage in Laurel Thomas’ (Charlotte Bellamy) cottage.
With the former vicar’s wife in Australia for the funeral of Sandy Thomas (Freddie Jones), Mulberry was the perfect place for Pierce to tie Vanessa up.
But there was a catch, Johnny her son was with her and he proved to be an issue in his plan to win back Rhona Goskirk (Zoe Henry).
Scenes showed Pierce drug the toddler in a bid to make him fall asleep and not cause any trouble.

However, when the storyline took an unexpected turn tonight, it seems Johnny’s fate may have been sealed.
Did Pierce give the child an overdose?
Kim Tate (Claire King) found herself embroiled in Pierce’s hostage situation when she arrived at the cottage to asses the property she rents to Laurel and her family.
After demanding Rhona to tell her what she was doing there, Pierce snuck up behind her and hit her over the head, knocking the Home Farm owner unconscious.
Pierce later dragged Kim upstairs to the same room Vanessa was tied up in, he bound her wrists together and gagged her, but it was only a matter of time until she came round.
When she did, Kim managed to do what Vanessa had failed to do for days - untie her wrists and take the cloth out of her mouth.
“Vanessa!” Kim gasped and Vanessa replied: “Is it Rhona?” In regards to the muffling screams, they could hear from downstairs.
Noticing she and Vanessa weren’t the only two in the room, Kim asked: “What’s wrong with the boy?”
“I don’t know he’s given him something?” Vanessa blubbed at the sight of her child being motionless.

“Don’t you dare!” Kim warned Vanessa against crying. “Save that for later. Right now we need to concentrate on getting him out of here.”
Vanessa has been locked up for over a week, and should Pierce have given Johnny the tranquilliser drug every day, there is a chance his organs could be severely damaged.
After all, Vanessa herself said Pierce didn’t know what the right amount to administer someone was.
Does this mean the young child has been Pierce’s second victim?
