X Factor Celebrity has been receiving mixed opinions from viewers, as some have been confused over the show’s format so far. Many were left less than pleased this evening as Simon Cowell announced yet another change to the programme.

Last weekend saw two more acts leave the competition, as No Love Lost and Martin Bashir were eliminated.

Tonight, the remaining famous faces returned for the quarter finals of the show, as they geared up for another live show as they hoped to impress the judges and viewers.

However, many took to Twitter to express their concerns over the show after Simon introduced yet another shake up to the format.

Simon revealed the safe seats would be removed from the competition altogether.

Host Dermot O’ Leary hit out at the judge, saying: “Lets be realistic about this, someone you pay has read social media and told you they hate the safe seats.”

Simon defended his position, as he replied: ‘It’s really important at this stage, two weeks away from the final that the public make the decision.”

Some viewers did seem pleased that Simon had listened to their requests.

One praised the decision: “Simon actually listened to us? Um can I make another request in removing a vote to bring someone back!!!!! #XFactorCelebrity.”

“Right choice Simon #XFactorCelebrity,” shared a third.

However, many accused the music mogul of “making up the rules as he goes along.”

One asked: “When will Simon Cowell understand that changing the rules and format of #XFactorCelebrity isn’t going to save the show - it just makes it even worse #XFactor.”

A second viewer stated: “Simon, social media hates your entire show. Can it go? #xfactor #xfactorcelebrity.”

Another remarked: “Simon is just making up the rules as he goes along #XFactorCelebrity

“Simon really is just making this whole thing up as he goes along clearly right? Getting completely rid of the 'Safe Seat' just like that cos apparently the public absolutely hated them really? #XFactorCelebrity,” echoed a fourth.

This isn’t the first time that Simon has introduced a rule change to the show, as he last week announced that there would be a public vote to bring back the most popular eliminated act to the final.

In last weekend's show, he revealed: “I’ll tell you what we’re going to do Dermot, no one’s agreed to this, but when we get to whoever’s going to be in the final.

“I’m going to put a public vote to put whoever is the most popular loser into the final,” he continued.

Turning to the eliminated act, he said: “Even though you’re [No Love Lost] out, you’ve still got a chance of getting into the final.”

This came after one of his acts, No Love Lost, was eliminated, as many fans called the rule change “embarrassing.”

X Factor: Celebrity said goodbye to another two acts tonight (Saturday, November 16) following Martin Bashir and No Love Lost’s departure last week. Head judge Simon Cowell dropped the bombshell at the start of the ITV show that the safe seats were no more, leaving every act at risk of being voted off. Here’s how the show unfolded and who left.

Tonight’s episode was kicked off with a bang courtesy of Max and Harvey.

The pair, who are mentored by Simon Cowell, sang High Hopes by Panic! at the Disco.

All three judges praised the duo, with Nicole saying: “Your energy week after week is crazy – the sky is the limit for you two.”

Following Max and Harvey was an act from Louis Walsh’s Unders – Kevin McHale.

The former Glee star sang I Feel Love, a song made famous by 70s singer Donna Summer.

He received a standing ovation from all three judges with Louis asking: “What just happened?!”

All three then described Kevin’s performance as his “best” of the series.

Third to take to the stage was international girl band V5, who narrowly avoided elimination last week (November 9).

V5 had the crowd roaring with their rendition of Bang Bang by Jessie J, Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj.

The girls received a standing ovation from the judges and crowd alike, with Nicole commenting: “Those girls got me feeling bang, bang!”

Louis also heaped on the praise, telling V5 they “deserve to be global posters.”

After V5 came footballer-turned-actor-turned-X Factor hopeful, Vinnie Jones.

Donning a Union Jack jacket, Vinnie took on a mash-up of rock classics I Fought the Law and Should I Stay or Should I Go, both by The Clash.

The highly-energetic performance was praised by all three judges, with Simon saying: “ I love the fact you embrace the bonkers.”

Vinnie was followed by former The Only Way is Essex and Celebrity Big Brother star, Megan McKenna.

Megan proved why she’s one of the frontrunners to win the contest with a performance of one of her own original songs.

X Factor Celebrity: Simon Cowell ignores Vinnie's plea to go home and eliminates Kevin

X Factor Celebrity returned for its quarter final this evening, and the famous faces were back for a chance to get a record deal with Simon Cowell’s label. However there was a shock to come in this evening’s elimination as Kevin McHale was sent home despite Vinnie Jones stepping down.

As the pair were both in the bottom two, Vinnie told Simon Cowell he would like to step down from the competition, in a kind gesture to Kevin McHale.

Vinnie said: “Simon I feel I’ve had a fantastic time it's been everything I needed since my wife passed.

Turning to Kevin, he said: “This guy is a real singer, I think he can win it for his career.

"I would like to step down Simon, and let him go through.”

However, in a shocking turn of events, Simon decided to ignore the ex-footballer’s plea, and overruled him, as the panel still went to a vote.

Nicole Schzeringer was first to cast her vote and understandably she stood by her act Vinnie despite his plea.

"Vinnie, you are a fighter like no other and I have to vote for you because you are mine," she told those watching at home.

It was then Louis Walsh's turn and he also stood by his act Kevin.

"I have to stick by my act, I thought he was amazing in the sing off. I have to send home Vinnie," he said.

Simon then explained his decision: "The last person in the world I want to have a fall out with is Vinnie Jones, genuinely.

"But this means we are going to have to fall out. I insist you stay in the competition.

"I tell you why, I say that no disrespect for Kevin, I am voting with my heart. The act I’m sending home is Kevin," the music mogul concluded.

ITV viewers were quick to jump on the decision, as they could not understand why the judge had chosen to go against Vinnie’s request.

One said: “As much as I like #Vinniejones & I take my hat off to him for what he said about stepping down but I think @SimonCowell should’ve accepted, after all this is a signing competition with a record contract in the taking #XFactorCelebrity.”

A second wrote: “That X Factor is truly fixed man. Vinnie Jones doesn’t even want to be there, even offered to step down and they’ve decided to keep him in and send away a proper singer with an actual talent? Pure shame #XFactorCelebrity”

A third echoed: “Petition to bring Kevin back!! vinnie was absolutely awful kevin should of stayed end of.”

“Awful!!! KEVIN IS SO MUCH THE BETTER SINGER!! Just a joke show now,” remarked another.
