Japanese design enterprise goyemon's UNDA has teamed with retail outpost DAN to create a new air bubble-equipped sandal. Following up a setta-style sandal with a bamboo footbed, this comfy slide borrows its material and colorway inspiration from New Balance's classic 1300JP.
As the 1300 was dubbed a "sports car for your feet" by its legions of fans when it originally released in 1985, UNDA has ramped up the materials on this sandal to ensure it's a proper tribute to the high-quality runner that inspired it. Footbeds are made of a soft grey-brown nubuck while the white and grey synthetic strap sits between the wearer's toes for a somewhat secure fit. This strap adds further to the material mix with nylon twill on its top half and synthetic leather on its bottom half.
White EVA foam midsoles are thin in the forefoot, but thick in the heel where they encase a Nike-style air bubble. Co-branded tags hang above the heel and durable black rubber outsoles with a lugged traction pattern complete the look.
The UNDA x DAN slide sandal can be pre-ordered via the DAN webstore now for a tax-included price of ¥24,200 JPY (approximately $220 USD), and is expected to ship in June.
